Welcome to the first edition of
, a monthly publication by and CPZ®, we will be sharing behind-the-scenes insights into the design of intelligent investment systems, the discipline of systematic strategy development, and the occasional detour into AI, economics, or philosophy. This isn’t a market recap or performance brag sheet. It’s a space for thinking quietly, rigorously, and long-term about how robust strategies get built and what breaks them.
📍 From El Escorial to Expected Value: On Designing Systems That Endure
On my arrival to Madrid for the upcoming IE Business School alumni gathering, I spent last Sunday walking through El Escorial, the massive 16th-century monastery near Madrid. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984 due to its exceptional architectural, historical, and cultural value. A monument to symmetry, silence, discipline and imperial logic, it felt less like a religious sanctuary and more like an operating system build to last. Just like in systematic investing, where structure and algorithms meet the messiness of human behavior, El Escorial embodies that same tension: a balance between method and psychology, order and belief.
El Escorial is physical structure built to impose order over entropy.
It reminded me of what we try to do at CPZ® Lab: design systems that don’t rely on charisma, but on structure. Not quick wins, but quiet repeatability. Good investment systems work the same way. They’re not loud. They endure.

This month’s highlight: Soft launch of CPZ AI
We’re officially beginning the soft launch of CPZ AI, with select beta users now exploring the platform.
CPZ AI is the first secure, vendor-isolated platform built to let investors design, test, and operate systematic strategies, without needing a full-stack quant tech team.
It combines:
Modular infrastructure for plug-and-play strategy deployment
AI-native, low-code tooling for building research and execution workflows
Strategic agility, so smaller teams can iterate fast, align with shifting priorities, and deploy with confidence
At its core, our mission is simple:
We enable decisions by decoding complexity, embracing uncertainty, and scaling possibilities.
This may sound abstract now, but it will come into sharp focus as we begin releasing our product and the insights behind it.
Below is an excerpt taken from our current marketing brochure/presentation.
It’s built for those who’ve asked:
"How do we scale alpha generation without turning into an engineering company?"
Early testers are already cutting deployment cycles by 90%, testing 5x more strategies per researcher, and operating at a fraction of traditional infrastructure costs.
Why this newsletter exists
Over the past years, we’ve received a steady stream of thoughtful questions from clients, investors, users, and sharp observers:
“How can we build and operate a system that lets us research, test, and develop quant strategies—assembly-line style—without a massive in-house tech stack?”
“How do you actually design your systems?”
“What’s your view on regime shifts?”
“How do you test for fragility before deploying a strategy?”
“How do we approach non stationary inference?”
The demand for depth, not hype, for method, not marketing, has been growing.
Silent Patterns is our answer.
It’s a monthly note for those who care about the architecture of alpha, not just the output. It’s for those who want to understand why a strategy works, how systems can break, and where unconventional edges are quietly hiding.
We’ll share what we’re building, what we’re questioning, and what we’re learning, with just enough detours into AI, economics, and epistemology to keep it interesting.
If that resonates, stay with us. First Monday of every month. Quietly, consistently.
Until next time
